Firefly, our hosted project management solution, will be shut down as of January 15, 2011. This will enable us to focus on our core products for Perl, Python, and Tcl. We thank you for your loyalty, and will work with you to ensure that you are able to retrieve your Firefly project data.

We have partnered with the good folks at Assembla to help you migrate your projects—and they, in turn, have offered to pass on significant savings to you for switching.  Assembla is also Trac-based, enabling a smooth transition for your projects.

When you move your Firefly projects to Assembla, you will get:
1) Your initial month FREE (standard Assembla offer)
2) Your second month FREE (for being a Firefly subscriber!)

In order to take advantage of this offer, please visit the Firefly page on Assembla's site. Your free months will automatically apply when you sign up through that page.

Assembla is used and trusted by over 180,000 developer and project managers. Their plans include a range of options, from free public Assembla for open source projects, to Group and Enterprise offerings. Their full range of plans can be viewed here.

If you would like to export your project from Firely for import into Assembla or other system, please contact us at support [at] activestate [dot] com. You will be provided with two zip files; one with the Trac-based content in a format that can be imported directly into Assembla; another with your svn repository data, if any.  We're happy to provide further guidance so that your switch goes smoothly.

Note to all Firefly users: Your projects will be accessible for porting out of Firefly until January 15, 2011. Please ensure you save and export all of your files and projects before then as we will not be keeping the projects on our servers after that date.

Note to paid Firefly users (Solo, Team, and Professional Firefly subscribers):  You may have noticed that ActiveState monthly billing for Firefly ceased on November 1, 2010; in addition, you will not be billed by ActiveState for the months of December or January. If you paid for a full year's subscription, you will receive a prorated credit on December 1, 2010 (it will be returned to the credit card you used to subscribe) . If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us at customerservice [at] activestate [dot] com.
