Say Hello World to Workspace

, May 13, 2009

We're excited to unveil a project we've been working on for months: Workspace.

We call it 'instant infrastructure for managing your software development projects'. It's a web-based tool that helps you manage the software development workflow with tools for:

  • Source code hosting
  • Revision control
  • Feature and issue tracking
  • Project management reporting
  • Communications, like forums, blogs and wikis

More than 2 million developers use our products, so we think we know a thing or two about software development. We know how frustrating and time consuming it is to manage the development process, when all you really want to do is build software. That's why we created Workspace.

We've designed the tool to combine all the right functionality in an instant, customizable environment. It's ready to use in minutes but also gives you plenty of flexibility. You can, for example, create a public project, keep it entirely private or blend the two. You can use Workspace as a single developer or collaborate with an unlimited number of team members, contributors or users.

Shane Caraveo talks about what Workspace is, why we built it, and where it's going:

Workspace is free during the beta period, and there will always be a free version that people can use. We've posted pricing information that we hope will work for development teams of any size.

Join in the free Workspace beta today. When you create a project you'll get a chance to win a Dell Netbook.
