An act that has dramatically reduced restrictions on law enforcement agencies’ ability to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records; eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities.

 

Is your company concerned about the Patriot Act?

These results shouldn’t be a surprise since the cloud model is still relatively new. However, as more companies move their applications to the cloud, data security and compliance issues will move to the forefront. It would be interesting to ask this question again in the next year or so.
