To purchase a student license, please contact our authorized partner.
For high school, college and university students with valid student ID. Our partner will require proof of current student status prior to purchase.
Students and the ActiveState Education Partner Program
Your school may already be a part of the ActiveState Education Partner Program. This partnership provides free access to our software for all coursework and while you are on campus. It also allows full time students to purchase our development tools at a discounted student rate, for off-site or use outside of school.
To verify that your school is part of the ActiveState Education Partner Program, please see our list of ActiveState Education Partners and contact your school's Computer Science or IT Department. If you wish to have access to our software at your school, you may also email us directly to verify that your school is part of the Education Partner Program.

Commercial Use
The use of a student license to create commercial applications is within the terms of the EULA, as long as you are a student at the time of purchasing the student license.
Student vs Regular Licensing
Student licensing is currently a pricing option variant only, and is based on your student status at the time of purchase. There is no licensing differentiation. This means that the software for Komodo IDE and Komodo IDE (student) is exactly the same.
Upgrading a Student License
If you are no longer a student and a new version of our software comes out, you will need to purchase the software at the regular price if you wish to upgrade. However, if you are still a student, you may re-purchase the current version of the software, at the discounted student price of $99 USD. Regular prices for these products are $295 USD each.
