January 12, 2011 – ActiveState, the dynamic language experts offering solutions for Perl, Python, and Tcl, today announced that ActiveState Komodo IDE has been named Best Python IDE, and honored as an InfoWorld 2011 Technology of the Year Award winner. Selected by InfoWorld Test Center editors and reviewers, the annual awards identify the best and most innovative products on the IT landscape. Winners are drawn from all products tested over the past year, with the final selections made by InfoWorld’s Test Center staff and announced today. To be eligible to win, the product has to be reviewed by the InfoWorld Test Center, has to be deemed outstanding, and has to belong to a product category that is considered extremely important.
“Of all the products we tested in the past year, these are the ones that impressed us the most. Our Technology of the Year Award winners are not just the best products in their class, but the ones that are changing the way IT services are delivered and the way people work,” InfoWorld Test Center Executive Editor Doug Dineley said. “ActiveState’s Komodo IDE provides the most elegant solution (among the nine products we tested) with multi-language debugging, an intuitive interface, and clever management of objects and code.”
“We are honored that InfoWorld recognized Komodo as the Best Python IDE and awarded us the InfoWorld 2011 Technology of the Year Award. This endorsement continues to support our belief that there is strong growth in Python, and there will continue to be in the future,” said Bart Copeland, President & CEO at ActiveState.
“Python is a powerful open source dynamic language that continues to extend its reach, from small developer teams to the enterprise, and we’re proud to be a part of that growth,” said Todd Whiteman, Komodo Development Lead at ActiveState. “This is nice recognition for all the hard work we’ve put into Komodo.”
