ActiveState believes that enterprises gain a competitive advantage when they are able to quickly create, deploy, and efficiently manage software solutions that immediately create business value, but they face many challenges that prevent them from doing so. ActiveState is uniquely positioned to help address these challenges through our experience with enterprises, people, and technology.
ActiveState is proven for the enterprise: More than two million developers and 97% of Fortune-1000 companies use ActiveState's end-to-end solutions to develop, distribute, and manage their software applications written in Java, Perl, Python, Node.js, PHP, Tcl, and other dynamic languages. Global customers like Cisco, CA, HP, Bank of America, Siemens, and Lockheed Martin trust ActiveState to save time, save money, minimize risk, ensure compliance, and reduce time to market.
Stackato is ActiveState's commercially supported Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that harnesses proven open source components such as Cloud Foundry and Docker. It runs on top of your cloud infrastructure as the application middleware and automatically configures the required language runtimes, web frameworks, data and messaging services. Administrators can monitor and configure user roles, application components, scaling, and memory usage through the Stackato web interface or command line.
We have a mindset for growth and play an active role growing Perl, Python, Tcl, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) in communities and the enterprise.
We are open, honest, and respectful of the varying needs of the communities and businesses we serve.
We value working with others and work cooperatively as a team, with our customers and partners, and with the open source community.
We are passionate about learning to grow, expand our horizons, and innovate.
We are driven to make a difference in the communities we serve.

Our Commitment to Open Source
We are firmly rooted and committed to the open source dynamic language and cloud communities as supporters and contributors. As seen in Ohloh rankings, our developers and strategic advisers consistently rank in the top 1-2% of all open source coders. ActiveState was selected as the Community Lead for Python and Django for the Cloud Foundry open source project and continues to actively participate, contribute back, and work closely with the Cloud Foundry community. Stackato is compatible with Cloud Foundry to ensure openness and long-term community support for enterprise customers.
Our technical leaders and engineers are also leading contributors to the core Perl, Python, and Tcl language distributions, and with this deep expertise, they provide technical support and services to our enterprise customers. ActiveState continues to provide our Community Edition language distributions (ActivePerl, ActivePython, ActiveTcl) free to the community. Komodo Edit, built on the Mozilla framework, is provided to the community as a free and open source editor.
