ActiveState Building Critical Mass

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – June 19, 2000 – ActiveState, a leading supplier of Internet programming software and services, has substantially increased its staff. The company has attracted top talent from across North America and Europe including: new senior management, development and marketing team members, as well as the appointment of Dr. Paul Kedrosky to the Board of Directors.

ActiveState’s new board member, Dr. Paul Kedrosky, is a Professor of Technology and Strategy at UBC. He is also a technology columnist for the National Post and regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal, Economist, Industry Standard and Forbes. Paul is a former VP and equity analyst with HSBC Securities. ActiveState’s new VP Operations, Steve Munford is putting the necessary infrastructure in place to support ActiveState’s rapid growth. He is former CIO/VP Operations of Seanix, where he helped grow the company to become the largest PC manufacturer in Canada. Top Perl and Python developers joining ActiveState include:

  • Gisle Aas comes to ActiveState from Norway and is one of the core Perl developers;
  • Eric Promislow joins ActiveState from OmniMark Technologies in Ottawa, Ontario;
  • Greg Stein is a senior Python developer, who will be working out of Palo Alto, CA.

Other new Activators contributing to the local tech ‘brain gain’ are: Andy McKay from England, Dmitry Samosseiko from Russia, Victor Sira from Venezuela, and Adam Turoff from Pennsylvania.
