Going Mobile: FeedHenry, ActiveState Announce Technology Integration

Mobile Platform Integration Extends Stackato Private PaaS to Android, iOS

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – June 12, 2012ActiveState, whose software enables developers and enterprises to innovate from code to cloud, and FeedHenry, creator of the leading cloud-based mobile application platform, today announced joint technology collaboration. The FeedHenry mobile application development and deployment environment is now integrated with ActiveState’s Stackato platform for private Platform as a Service (PaaS), and delivers a unified solution for enterprises to develop, deploy and manage both web and mobile applications in a private cloud.

“Our customers want cloud flexibility, convenience and security for their mobile applications,” said Cathal McGloin, CEO at FeedHenry. “Stackato works seamlessly with FeedHenry, and the integrated platform scales beautifully. Developers and enterprises can now build, integrate and manage cloud solutions from a single place, regardless of client technology.”

The technology integration brings secure private enterprise-ready PaaS to the FeedHenry mobile environment, and extends Stackato into new mobile device architectures like Android and Apple iOS. In practical terms, an enterprise customer can now build mobile applications using FeedHenry’s cutting-edge development environment and deploy server-side content to a secure private cloud with Stackato. In addition, that enterprise customer can manage both mobile and web applications via a single, unified management console interface.

“FeedHenry is the leading mobile cloud development platform,” said Bart Copeland, CEO at ActiveState. “And with it, Stackato now goes mobile. The two platform technologies complement each other, and now provide an end-to-end private-cloud solution for enterprises looking to manage applications across platforms via a unified management console. Stackato plus FeedHenry supports cloud apps developed in any language, using any stack, running on any cloud, and operating on any device.”

The two companies share more than integrated technology—both are HP Cloud Services partners, as well as Cloud Foundry Community Partners.

Stackato—now generally available in version 1.2—is the application platform for creating a private PaaS. From the desktop to the datacenter, Stackato makes it easy to develop, deploy, migrate, scale, manage and monitor applications in any cloud environment. Its recent update includes support for persistent file systems, user group administration and an advanced app store framework.
