ActiveState a LinuxWorld Award Winner

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – February 16, 2005 – ActiveState, the leading provider of tools and services for dynamic languages, announced today that its professional IDE, Komodo 3.1, has won the LinuxWorld Product Excellence Award in the Best Application Development Platform or Tool category. This win adds another top honor for Komodo, the popular integrated development environment for dynamic languages including Perl, Python, PHP, and Tcl on Linux, Solaris, and Windows.

ActiveState released Komodo 3.1 at LinuxWorld Boston earlier this week. This highly anticipated Linux-focused release offers developers improved Linux desktop integration, a GTK2-based user interface, Perl AutoComplete and CallTips, support for Subversion, faster debugging with Python, improved UTF-8 and PHP5 support, and increased performance on Linux.

Richard Monk, Customer Support Specialist for a major Linux company, uses Komodo for his Python development on Linux. Monk says, "Komodo makes it possible to keep my code organized, easy-to-read, and still gives me space to program in the editor. Komodo looks great and runs great on Linux. It just plain works."

Award winners were announced at the LinuxWorld Expo in Boston by a panel of respected industry experts. The program is managed by IDG World Expo in conjunction with LinuxWorld Magazine.
