August Poll Results: Uncertain About the Patriot Act? You’re Not Alone

In our August newsletter, we offered readers the chance to win a Komodo IDE license simply by answering two quick poll questions. Our lucky winner was Robert Caldwell – Congrats, Robert!

Here are the results from last month’s poll:

What is the USA Patriot Act?

Good effort to the 28% of you who should not compete on Jeopardy. Here is the full answer for your benefit:

An act that has dramatically reduced restrictions on law enforcement agencies’ ability to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records; eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities.

Is your company concerned about the Patriot Act?

These results shouldn’t be a surprise since the cloud model is still relatively new. However, as more companies move their applications to the cloud, data security and compliance issues will move to the forefront. It would be interesting to ask this question again in the next year or so.

Thanks to all those that participated! If you have ideas for future quick polls, feel free to leave us a comment.
