Meet Our Team

Bart Copeland

President and CEO 
Bart Copeland is our CEO and president. He's passionate about ensuring that everyone at ActiveState has a lot of fun while solving complex problems with applications that provide real benefit to our customers. He holds an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix and a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of British Columbia.

Scott Robertson

Scott Robertson is passionate about creating products that solve real problems. He drives ActiveState’s technology vision and has spent over 20 years knees deep in code. His background includes everything from dev to Founder to CTO. Most recently he normalized Fortune 500 BI data and ETL to scale. He understands the pains faced in pushing software into production and the challenges big business has to stay fast and relevant. He helps companies do both.

Angie Hirata

VP, Sales & Corporate Development
Angie brings more than twenty years of experience in the software industry to her role as head of sales and corporate development at ActiveState. Angie re-joined ActiveState in 2017, after working for HPE from 2015 - 2017 as a part of the HPE-ActiveState Stackato acquisition. She loves to work with customers on their innovative new projects. Angie's successful career has included start-ups and large organizations since earning her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.

Maria Chu

VP, Finance, HR & Admin
Maria has almost 20 years of diverse senior financial management roles (including 10 with ActiveState) and an expert generalist overseeing various aspects of business operations including legal, HR, strategic matters such as private placements, offering memorandum, flow-through limited partnerships and board/shareholder matters. She has intimate knowledge of financial processes including financial reporting and analysis of operating results, planning, internal controls, cash management and other operational mandates. She has worked in diverse companies from IT, general aviation, real estate property development and manufacturing.

Jeff Rouse

VP of Product Management 
Jeff is passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, and building great products. With over 20 years’ of experience in the IT industry, from startups to publicly traded technology firms, Jeff has led development teams and business operations, created products, and taken them to market. Jeff earned his B.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Calgary where he ignited his long-standing interest in software technology. At ActiveState, Jeff oversees product strategy and innovation across all product lines.

Sandra Wear

VP, Marketing
Sandra Wear cut her tech-teeth with SaaS and has never looked back. She's spent over 20 years in tech taking new products to markets. Sandra loves to understand what companies need & tell the stories that help make technology come alive. She's lived in three different countries, speaks two languages and has a B.Sci. from UBC & Dipl. Marketing Management from BCIT. She's featured in "Innovation Nation" about successful tech entrepreneurs and Canada 150 Women.
