Cloud Foundry is the only open source PaaS project, supported by over fifty backers, whose direction is completely determined by its members. The Foundation is dedicated to the evolution and growth of the Cloud Foundry open source project as well as the ecosystem and community around it. According to Foundation board members, over the past year, the project “has seen a 36% increase in community contributions and nearly 1,700 pull requests” as it continues to grow market share amongst enterprises and mind share amongst analysts.
“Cloud Foundry is critical to our business and this Foundation is integral to ensuring its longevity and stability,” says Jeff Hobbs, CTO, ActiveState. “As more companies come together to contribute to this open source project, the ecosystem will only grow stronger and innovation will occur at an even faster pace.”
The Cloud Foundry Foundation was originally announced in February 2014 and ActiveState has been an active member since its inception. “Everyone has worked extremely hard to get the Cloud Foundry Foundation to where it is today,” stated Brent Smithurst, VP Product Management & Marketing, ActiveState. “Their efforts have paid off with its successful launch today. This is an exciting time for PaaS and Cloud Foundry is leading the way towards defining industry standards. We, at ActiveState, look forward to continuing to contribute to the success of the Cloud Foundry ecosystem and its users.”
