VANCOUVER, BC – February 11, 2015 – ActiveState, the leading independent Cloud Foundry and Docker-based PaaS provider, today announced its appointment to the Cloud Foundry Foundation Board for 2015. ActiveState is uniquely positioned to help guide the foundation while continuing its dominance within the industry and open source community. The company brings deep technical experience to the board through the development of its own PaaS solution Stackato.
“We have been active users and community members of Cloud Foundry since its inception in 2011, and are looking forward to furthering our involvement by joining the board,” said Bart Copeland, CEO of ActiveState. “Our roots in the Cloud Foundry community and the focus of the developers we have on staff gives us a unique perspective and knowledge which I believe will provide significant value. We look forward to working with and supporting the foundation’s mission and goals.”
As a member of the Cloud Foundry Foundation Board, ActiveState will directly assist and oversee the preservation and advancement of its mission, elect officers, approve budget, determine foundation operations and perform other regulatory duties. ActiveState, and fellow newcomer Swisscom, joins existing board members EMC, HP, IBM, Intel, Pivotal, SAP and VMware.
Fellow Cloud Foundry Foundation gold members (Accenture, BNY Mellon, CapGemini, CenturyLink, Ericsson, GE, Hortonworks, NTT, SAS and Verizon) elected ActiveState and Swisscom to represent them in a vote earlier this month.
Following this announcement, Sam Ramji, the newly appointed CEO of the Cloud Foundry Foundation, will be joining host Bernard Golden, VP of Strategy at ActiveState, on the next edition of ActiveState’s Cloud Luminary Fireside Chat webcast series, taking place on Friday, February 20th, at 11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern. In this fireside chat, Sam and Bernard will discuss the state of the foundation, the PaaS industry and the Cloud Foundry community.
