OpenStack Community App Catalog Adds ActiveState’s Stackato Private Platform-as-a-Service

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – May 20, 2015 – (OpenStack Summit Booth #T6) – ActiveState today announced that Stackato®, the company’s leading Cloud Foundry and Docker based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), has joined the OpenStack Community App Catalog. With the addition of Stackato to the App Catalog, users are now able to access a production ready PaaS in minutes.

ActiveState Stackato, based on Cloud Foundry and Docker, has come together with OpenStack Murano to bring the best of cloud in a single unified, turnkey solution:

  • This integration addresses the current and emerging needs for enterprises in terms of streamlined deployment processes, application lifecycle management, and a blueprint for hybrid cloud.
  • The Community App Catalog is a web-based application store that provides users with full-stack applications integrated to run on OpenStack.
    • Murano uses the provided scripts to provision an instance of Stackato, instantly deploying the entire stack needed to run Stackato.
    • It eliminates the need for manual manipulation of the underlying configuration, providing an easy to use user-interface with drag and drop functionality.

Stackato is used by large enterprises, cloud hosting companies and SaaS providers, making it easy to develop, deploy, migrate, scale, manage, and monitor applications on any cloud. It provides development teams with built-in languages, frameworks and services on one single cloud application platform, while providing enterprise-level security and world-class support.

That’s the main goal of the Community App Catalog: giving app developers faster access to the tools they need to be productive, spending less time on configuring compute, storage, and networking resources.”

Bart Copeland, President and CEO, ActiveState, said:
“OpenStack has built a great community of like-minded companies wanting to push the boundaries of technology and innovation. We’re thrilled that Stackato is a part of this initiative, helping enterprises bring productivity, efficiency, and scalability to the cloud.”
