Virtualization in the EC2 cloud using LXC

EC2 is already a (para)virtualized environment, which means it’s nearly impossible to run your own virtualization (KVM/VirtualBox/qemu) from inside that environment. However, Linux recently introduced a new system into the kernel, called cgroups, which provides a way to isolate process groups from each other in the kernel.

Whether large companies or private cloud operators, they seem to fall into two categories when it comes to how they view the underlying infrastructure of their private cloud.

1. Some are 100% VMware, and run their private cloud on vSphere, vCenter, vCloud Director - the VMware cloud infrastructure stack.

Once again, the journey to the lovely city of Portland for OSCON 2011 was definitely worth the trip. Kudos to O'Reilly for combining OSCON, with OSCON Data and OSCON Java bringing an even wider variety of communities to the Open Source conversation. For me, the inclusion of the Data stream made the trip worthwhile.
