Available Products
We’ve streamlined our commercial offerings for the ActiveState Platform. There are now two tiers commercially available: Team Tier and Enterprise Tier. We have a detailed comparison on our general pricing page. If you are looking to extend licensing for a discontinued product, please see further down the page.
ActiveState Platform Team Tier
Ideal for small teams or small organizations. Licensed as an annual subscription. Offers your customer the ability to build their own Python, Perl or Tcl distributions for 32- and 64-bit Linux, macOS and Windows platforms. Includes basic commercial support via chat and email without an SLA. Available add-ons include:
- Additional Active Runtimes – Licensed annually in blocks of 3 additional Active Runtimes. May only be sold to customers that have purchased the ActiveState Platform Team Tier.
ActiveState Platform Enterprise Tier
Ideal for security-conscious businesses and large enterprises. Please contact us to discuss pricing for the following available Enterprise-only add-ons:
- Access to older releases of Perl, Python 3 and Tcl.
- Additional Active Runtimes – Licensed annually in blocks of 75 additional Active Runtimes. May only be sold to customers that have purchased the ActiveState Platform Enterprise Tier.
- Custom Language Engineering – Let our experts tackle your client’s build engineering issues.
- Custom Managed Distributions – Language distributions that we build, manage and maintain to meet your client’s specifications.
- Extended Operating System Support – Support for AIX and Solaris.
- Extended Python 2.7 Support & Maintenance – Keep legacy Python code and critical dependencies secure and up-to-date, even though Python 2 has reached End-of-Life (EOL).
- Extended Support Options – Custom service levels for support.
- Hosted Archive Repositories (Python only) – Ensure that developers and customers use only “known-good” versions and dependencies.
- Indemnification against IP infringement lawsuits for ActiveState’s Python, Tcl or Perl distributions. Reduce risks related to open source use.
- Manual Vulnerability (CVE) Remediation – Part of Managed Distributions.
- OEM Licensing – OEM licensing for bundling/redistributing ActiveState language distributions in your customer’s applications.

All prices are in US Dollars. Each order must include purchaser contact info (reseller contact), administrator (customer contact full name and email address) and end user (may be same as administrator). Orders may not be processed until admin/end user contact information is provided.

Active Runtimes vs Users, Nodes, and Beyond Development Use
Our new licensing model uses one simple metric for pricing: Active Runtimes. Simply put, an Active Runtime is a single copy of code distributed by ActiveState that you’re running or otherwise using. For example, if you’ve built a Python distribution using the ActiveState Platform and you’re running a script with it, that would count as one Active Runtime.
The use of the runtime no longer matters. Any use – development, testing, production or other – is covered by Active Runtimes. As long as customers stay within their Active Runtime limit, they can create as many custom runtimes as they like using any language available on the ActiveState Platform and change these runtimes whenever they like.
This is much simpler and more flexible than the older licensing model which only permitted a specific runtime to be run on a limited number of nodes and that further distinguished between development and non-development use.

ActiveState Business Edition (for ActivePerl, ActivePython or ActiveTcl)
ActiveState Business Edition (for ActivePerl, ActivePython or ActiveTcl) is replaced by the ActiveState Platform Team Tier or Enterprise Tier. If you have a customer wishing to renew this product, please contact us to discuss transitioning the customer to the ActiveState Platform.
ActiveState Enterprise Edition Edition (for ActivePerl, ActivePython or ActiveTcl)

ActiveState OEM Licensing (for ActivePerl, ActivePython or ActiveTcl)
ActiveState OEM Licensing (for ActivePerl, ActivePython or ActiveTcl) is replaced by the ActiveState Platform Enterprise Tier. If you have a customer wishing to renew this product, please contact us to discuss transitioning the customer to the ActiveState Platform.
ActiveState Platform Coder Tier
Existing Coder Tier users will have full access to their Coder Tier subscription until the subscription expires. After this time, they will need to choose a different tier, with the Free and Team Tiers likely being the most suitable options. If you have a customer wishing to renew this product, please contact us to discuss transitioning the customer to the ActiveState Platform.
ActiveState Platform Business Tier
Existing Business Tier users will have full access to their Business Tier subscription until the subscription expires. After this time, they will need to choose a different tier, with the Team and Enterprise Tiers likely being the most suitable options. PDK/TDK/Pro Studio End of Life
